Texas Saltwater Fishing Hall of Fame

Induction into the Texas Saltwater Fishing Hall of Fame is a singular and distinguished honor, bestowed only upon those whose contributions to the sport exemplify the highest standards of excellence. This once‑in‑a‑lifetime recognition is reserved for individuals who represent the pinnacle of achievement in Texas saltwater fishing—those whose dedication, skill, and influence have left an enduring mark on the sport.

Candidates for induction must meet a comprehensive set of criteria reflecting both accomplishment and character. Consideration is given to an individual’s reputation within the industry; notable achievements such as tournament victories, state, world, and line‑class records; and a history of earning respected angling awards. Equally important are peer recognition, longevity in the sport, collaboration with complementary organizations, and meaningful efforts to promote and advance saltwater fishing. Together, these elements form the foundation of a résumé worthy of this esteemed honor.

Guided by the standards of respected institutions such as the International Game Fish Association and the International Women’s Fishing Association, the Texas Saltwater Fishing Hall of Fame has established a nomination process designed to be fair, equitable, and consistent for all candidates. While any individual may submit a nomination for someone they believe deserving of induction, all nominations must be formally submitted through the Texas Saltwater Fishing Hall of Fame Committee for official review and consideration.

Formal nominations may be submitted by individual members of the TSWFHOF Committee or by HBGFC Board members. The submitting member then becomes the “sponsor” of the nominee and forwards the nomination to the committee for review.

All nominations must include (1) a biography or résumé, (2) a digital photograph, and (3) the nominee’s mailing address.

Nominees are presented to the nine members of the TXSWFHOF Committee, who vote to accept or decline each candidate by majority vote. Once a nominee has been accepted by the committee, the nomination is forwarded to the HBGFC Board of Directors for a final vote. If approved by a majority of the Board, the nominee will be inducted into the TSWFHOF at the HBGFC Annual Awards Banquet. Inductees are announced once each year shortly after the first of the year.

Nominations are considered on a ongoing basis (December 1st through November 30th), allowing the TSWFHOF Committee and the HBGFC Board of Directors ample time to evaluate each nominee on their own merit.
